How to Make
The Best Ginger Tea

Delicious ginger tea has amazing health benefits and is easy to make. Drink it as a natural remedy or just to enjoy!

Ginger tea ingredients:

     Organic ginger root
     Fresh lime
     4-5 cups boiling water

     Raw honey
     Mineral drops


  1. Peel and grate 1 – 2 tablespoons ginger root.
  2. Warm the teapot with some boiling water, empty it, then put in the grated ginger root.
  3. Add boiling water and steep for at least 15 minutes. I cover the teapot with a tea caddy to keep the tea hot.
  4. When you pour the tea into your cup, add a squeeze of fresh lime juice. (Lemon is good, too!)
  5.  If you like it sweet, add raw honey or stevia rebaudiana to taste.
  6. I like my ginger tea with mineral drops for an added health boost.


Here's my new favourite addition to ginger tea:

Add a bag of raspberry leaf tea to the grated ginger when you pour the boiling water into the teapot. Throat Coat is delicious, too.

Raspberry leaf adds calcium and other minerals to your tea. You can leave the bag in for several hours so the nutrients are fully absorbed into the water. I make this tea at night to drink in the morning, then mix half cold tea and half boiling water in my mug.

It's especially good with stevia and lime or lemon.

Benefits of Ginger

Ginger has so many benefits, it's amazing. It has been used for centuries in cooking and as medicine. It's one of those natural remedies that has stood the test of time and is now being proven by science.

Ginger root has high levels of antioxidants. This is good news because oxidative stress is what ages us and leads to most of our chronic health problems.

The benefits of ginger include...

  • Aids digestion – helps with intestinal gas. Ginger is deservedly popular with people who suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • May protect against liver damage
  • Blocks production of superoxide which can trigger the creation of hydrogen peroxide and bleach in your body which damages your cells, DNA, proteins and lipids (fats.) Not so good.
  • Acts as an analgesic – pain killer
  • Anti-inflammatory - relieves arthritis and reduces joint pain

But wait! There's more!

Ginger blocks or inhibits all of these health dangers...*

  • Oxidative damage - which underlies most chronic health problems
  • Inflammation – from osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis; ginger is a COX-2 inhibitor
  • Nausea/vomiting – helps with travel sickness and morning sickness
  • Cancer
  • Asthma – helps to keep your airways open
  • Dementia
  • Diabetes – helps to reduce the effects of fructose on elevating blood sugar (hyperglycemia), body weight, fat levels, and insulin resistance. (Refined sugar is 50 percent fructose.)
  • Ulcerative colitis
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Platelet aggregation (blood clotting) – may help to prevent coronary heart disease
  • Cholesterol

For some of these conditions, you will need a good quality ginger supplement, as I think you'd need to drink a bucketful of ginger tea to receive the same level of benefits.

But either as tea or as a supplement, ginger is one of Nature's wonder foods. I always keep it on hand in my stock of natural remedies.
