It comes from the work of best-selling author and MD, John Sarno, who found that migraines are caused by repressed anger. Studies confirm that held-in anger is a common cause of headache and migraine.
Anger is often considered an “unacceptable” emotion, especially for women, which may be the reason almost three times as many women as men experience migraines.
Children get migraines, too. 85% of the children in this study experienced repressed anger before their migraine began. The researchers explain that unconscious emotions affect neurotransmitters, blood vessels and the sympathetic nervous system, triggering migraine.
